Flipping the Switch

Hurricane Maria caused the longest blackout in United States history. Thousands lost their power, and many never got it back in the months following the natural disaster. Prominent Puerto Rican activist Tito Kayak has used his skills as an electrician to restore power and change lives. Video by Rob Gourley and Ruijia Zhang, published on UNC Photojournalism Vimeo account as the final work of MEJO584: International Project class

Always Have

Franklin and Linda Williams are a couple who have been operating the Williams Strawberry Farm, Camden, NC for 30 years.

The secret of their long time marriage is that they share one sink together in a small bathroom so that they learn to share all the time. “We don’t have to have a lot of space away from each other to be happy, “ said Linda. “I love you Berry Much” is what Linda always writes on the card she signs to Franklin.

Two Worlds, One Family

For her first two years at Penn State, Lesly Salazar's world revolved around studying for a career in broadcast journalism. That changed April 20,2015, when her daughter Elena Pitilis was born.
She's still focused on her career, but she's equally determined to be a good parent. Her two worlds have made her life busy but worthwhile.

Homeless by Choice

Homeless is not the end of the world as long as you stay positive and make effort to live a better life. Jordan McCallister, a homeless, works at a gas station overnight hoping to give his one-year-old daughter a bright future.

The Secret

"The Secret" short film was filmed and edited by me in 3 hours for the advertising campaign created by 6 interns at Wray Ward, a Charlotte based creative marketing agency where I interned in 2016 Summer. The content of the film is meant to match one of our campaign directions "The Secret Out."
